Genesis makes it easy to insert extra content of your choice before the main footer (copyright line) and either before or after the footer widgets. Below are some examples.
The hook to use is
Below is the basic code to add a line of text after the footer widgets (as in the example above).
Below is the basic code to add a line of text before the footer widgets (as in the example above). This requires a priority lower than 10.
Note that your Genesis theme is responsible for styling any content that you insert.
Any content that you add via this hook, whether before or after the footer widgets, will output outside of the
<div class="footer-widgets"> (HTML5) or
<div id="footer-widgets" class="footer-widgets"> (XHTML) markup element and outside of the
<footer class="site-footer"> (HTML5) or
<div id="footer" class="footer"> (XHTML) markup element.
Also note that any content that you add via this hook will always be output, even if your theme does not support footer widgets or your footer widget areas are empty.
Genesis Simple Hooks
If you’re a Genesis Simple Hooks user, you can find
genesis_before_footer under Footer Hooks and enter your desired content into the box.
Because Genesis Simple Hooks does not support priorities, it will only allow you to add your extra content after the footer widgets and not before.
Only one function is hooked to
genesis_before_footer by default. This is
genesis_footer_widget_areas, which outputs the footer widgets if your theme supports them. It is hooked at priority 10 (default) in lib/structure/footer.php like so:
